The War on the Light Bulb

Delroy Murdock writes about Washington's war on the light bulb over at National Review Online.  Why ban the light bulb?  After all, you can still buy a kerosene lantern.

At National Review's Corner, Mark Steyn points to this Wall Street Journal piece quoting Nobel-prize winning Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu on the light bulb ban,

"We are taking away a choice that continues to let people waste their own money."

Having worked in energy policy for several years, I can confirm for Mr. Steyn that, in fact, for most energy policy makers, the essence of "good" energy policy is taking away the "bad" choices from the hoi polloi, lest they get it wrong.
