The InstaPundit brought to my attention another effort to set science and democracy in opposition. Earlier this month, Gary Stix wrote on Scientific American's blog about how "Effective World Government Will Be Needed to Stave Off Climate Catastrophe."
My pre-buttal can be found in my essay from last month Science v. Democracy.
For his part, Mr. Stix believes that to save the world from global warming,
"I’ve come to the conclusion that the technical details are the easy part. It’s the social engineering that’s the killer."
Not one to propose baby steps or half measures, Mr. Stix believes,
"To be effective, a new set of institutions would have to be imbued with heavy-handed, transnational enforcement powers."
[Shudder.]
