A sign of how how far we've fallen, even the normally optimistic Joel Kotkin's mood has turned dark over the London riots. "The U.K. Riots And The Coming Global Class War" is the headline from his latest Forbes piece.
My takeaway from Joel,
"economic systems, to be credible and socially sustainable, must deliver results to the vast majority of citizens".
Over at his blog, Walter Russell Mead notes the change in Joel's mood. My takeaway from Mead's takeaway,
"Nobody yet knows the way forward — least of all established intellectuals, who are mostly still in love with the paradigms of the past...The 21st century demands something new, and if history is any guide, life will be scary and hard while we blunder our way toward something new.
