We keep hearing how Minneapolis
is leading the nation in economic growth, thanks to the far-sighted policies of
the state’s Democrat party.
Well, Joel Kotkin has looked at the
actual numbers and the MSP region is mired deep in the pack.
For per capita increase in GDP, Minneapolis-St. Paul ranks
19th among large urban areas.
The time period (2010-2013) exactly corresponds to the years Democrat
Gov. Mark Dayton has been in office.
MSP ranks behind such garden spots as Columbus
OH , Grand Rapids
MI , Detroit (!),
and Cleveland for recent increases in the economic growth rate.
Booming Houston
leads the pack. It’s worth reading Joel’s
entire piece to get a flavor for where regional growth is happening.
