My Correspondence with Mark Steyn

More than a year ago, I fired off an email to columnist Mark Steyn, but neglected to check for a reply, until now.

Here is the exchange at it appears on Steyn's website (mine is the last letter on the page),

"Mark, what do you think, if anything, about 17 of the 23 members of the Algerian World Cup soccer team having been born in France?
Bill Glahn
Edina, Minnesota

MARK SAYS: Two thoughts: First, for decades Europe used the developing world as its nursery, so you can't blame Algerian soccer for using France as its farm team.  Secondly, I think we have a glimpse of the World Cup semi-finals circa 2022: The French-born Algerian team play the English-born Pakistani team while the German-born Turkish team play the Dutch-born Moroccan team.  Or maybe we'll all be playing buzkashi by then."
