Rubicon: A river in Wisconsin

Yes, it's true.  I'm a sucker for any reference to ancient Rome.  The Rubicon one is a cliche, but I do think that Charles Krauthammer has captured how monumental the events unfolding in our neighbor to the east will turn out to be.

I am buying into Walter Russell Mead's analysis that we (as a society) need to remake ourselves:  the status quo is unsustainable.  But to paraphrase another cliche, "après eux, puis ce?" (assuming my Google translator is working right).

Can't decide to tag this "Decline and Fall" or "Rebuilding from the bottom up".  I'm going with the former, as that is the order in which we must proceed.
