ATK Flies to Virginia

It's being reported that aerospace and defense company ATK is moving its corporate headquarters from Minnesota to Virginia.  The company has its origins in the old Honeywell, which decamped to New Jersey back in 1999.

The move to Virginia is a gain for my old hometown of Arlington.  I'm sure that, being a defense-related business, moving closer to the Pentagon and across the river from the seat of the empire played some role in their thinking.

Nonetheless, it's still a blow to Minnesota, which brags on the ever-dwindling number of Fortune 500 companies based in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.  In recent years, Minnesota has lost Delta Airlines, Wells Fargo Bank, Macy's and others.

How far are we willing to fall?
