Detroit in Decline

The population of Detroit, once America's fifth largest city, continues to decline and stands at the lowest level since 1910, in the latest census.

Wendell Cox has an early review of the details, over at New Geography.  And the Wall Street Journal provides some context.  It's not just flight to the suburbs, as the entire Detroit metro area shrank in the past ten years.  Despite the best efforts of Mayor Dave Bing, as an outside observer, I continue to beleive that some form of the Charter City concept is Detroit's best hope.
